This day in Wrestling History

For the first time in over a month i am doing a this day in Wrestling History hopefully people will be a little more resceptive to it because its been gone for while. With the Royal Rumble right around the corner its only fitting to do this post about this first Royal Rumble which took place this day 25 years ago on the USA Network. This was a special for the USA network and invented by Pat Patterson who was working backstage at the time. This event saw 8 future WWE hall of famers step into the ring on that night and probably a lot of them will be future hall of famers but wow 8 future hall of famers who knew. Probably the thing that speaks the loudest is that the shortest time in the rumble was once a little over 2 minutes held by JYD. But then of course in 1990 the Warlord broke that record & then broken again by Santino in 09 who stayed in for .1 seconds. That shows how the philosophy of the Rumble has changed over the years & look at the first two winners Duggan & Studd they really didnt have eventful careers which showed Vince something. And it showed him he can make future stars or established veterans win the match also like Michaels, Austin, HHH, Undertaker, Batista, Cena, etc. The Rumble has changed over the years but their is one thing that hasnt changed and thats the exciment the match continues to instill in every member of the WWE Universe. Who will win it this year many have their guess some say its not a guess its the truth only way to know for sure and thats tune in to the Royal Rumble this Sunday or just watch Raw the next either way you will know.
